According to CBC and Radio-Canada sources, Quebec Premier François Legault has canceled his proposed levy on the unvaccinated.

The premier is expected to make the news at a press conference today afternoon at 1 p.m., as first reported by La Presse.

The fee would have placed a monetary penalty on Quebecers who did not receive their first dosage of COVID-19 vaccination, as stated by the premier in January.

 

Legault had said that the tax may be included in provincial tax forms, but the details of the charge had remained a mystery. He had stated that he wanted the price to be “considerable,” implying that it would be more than $100.
